The site of FMG Stadium Waikato has been the home of Rugby in Waikato since Rugby Park first opened on the site in 1925. The stadium went through a major redevelopment in 2002 and has hosted an international Rugby fixture every year since then, cementing its reputation as a world class stadium. It is also the home of the Chiefs Super 15 team.
The stadium is located in Whitiora on Seddon Rd, an easy 15 minute walk from the CBD.
Waikato Stadium has a capacity of 25,800 seats. It is possible to extend the capacity in excess of 30,000 by adding 5,000 temporary seats on the Goal Line Terrace at the Tristram Street end.
