River Rats Raft and Kayak have been offering quality adventures for over 35 years. We pride ourselves on a safety first culture and our attention to detail.
Located in Rotorua in the central North Island of New Zealand, we offer five white water rafting trips ranging from a grade 2 scenic trip suitable for families or the less adventurous through to grade 5 adrenalin pumping action adventure including the worlds highest commercially rafted waterfall.
Kayaking is available as freedom hire or a guided tour. Paddle the local lakes to a secluded beach or enjoy a hot water swim only accessible by boat.
River Rats are proud to be a Qualmark and Maritime NZ approved operator and foundation members of the Rotorua Sustainable Tourism Charter. We were the first operation of our type in NZ to achieve Qualmark Enviro Gold certification

Good fun but too short
Quality was high, professional, fun, experienced staff. The 'ride' was quite short and price was a bit on the high side, but that's the tourism industry norm I guess. Still was definitely an experience worth doing in my opinion.

Amazing
The rafting experience was not as I imagined. It was better. Full training was provided, and we felt totally comfortable with the level of safety and the precautions involved. The 7 metre waterfall was a real adrenaline rush and we would love to do this again.

It was great, the staff were friendly (although a little un organised), the experience in general was wicked and i would definitly want to do it again
