Birchlands Motel offers comfortable and affordable accommodation, just 2 minutes walk to the lake front and five minutes to the central business district.
We have a choice of studio, one or two bedroom units, all with fully equipped kitchens, heat pump and private rear patio areas. Free 500MB - 1GB WiFi available with all TravelBug / Bookit reservations, charge of $5.00 applies per additional 1GB over your allocated allowance.
All units are ground based and face directly towards the mountains across Lake Taupo, looking over Kaimanawa Reserve. Relax and read a book or just watch the many various activities on or over the lake.
Birchlands Motel is a family friendly motel, and can supply a cot to families with young children (1 child under the age of 2 may stay free), and a highchair is availanle. The reserve directly across the road is an ideal safe playing area for parents and children alike.
Leave your car in the car park and take a two minute walk to the lakefront, a two minute walk to the local supermarket, a five minute walk to the town centre. Cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, clubs, nightclubs are all within easy walking distance.
Each unit has 1 allocated car park. Additional vehicles will need to park on the roadside. Off street secure parking is available for your boat / trailer by arrangement.
PET POLICY
Pets are also welcome by prior arrangement with Motel (Please contact us to confirm availability as we only have two pet friendly units (Units 1 & 3), and a $20 fee will be aplicable to your pets stay along with a $30 bond or credit card authorisation).
Tariffs:
Rates from $119* for single/couple, $20 per extra child or adult up to room max. 1 Child under 2 can stay free in a Porta Cot. (Please contact us to confirm Cot availability)

Reception Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 - 10:30, 14:00 - 21:00 (*18:00 - 21:00 by arrangement)
Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays: 8:30 - 10:30, 14:00 - 21:00
*Please advise us if you plan to arrive after 6pm.
Check in is available from 14:00 unless an early arrival has been arranged previously with reception.

Great place to stay. Close to the lake, a couple of minutes to a great cafe on rifle range rd, ten minutes max to town. Units really clean, warm and quiet. Would stay here again - although i'm picking that will get harder to do with such good prices and location!.

We had a great stay at birchlands motel. The location was fantastic being a few minutes walk from town and the waterfront. The unit itself was tidy and comfortable with a heatpump to keep the place warm. And the service was excellent. We were in taupo for a trail run event and the manager of the motel went out of his way to let us use a unit for showering up after the run, even though we had already checked-out earlier. It was much appreciated and the best service i've had at a motel. Looking forward to going back. .

Great Service with good location

Due to a vehicle breakdown(and concerns with a newborn) we were unable to make our booking but would like to comment on how kind and caring the owner was when we called to advise we couldn't make it. Truly refreshing and will definitely be booking a stay here when we next head to taupo. Also big special thanks to the travelbug team - fantastic ethics!.
