We are the World Champions
- again & still!
Since the Rugby World Cup in 2015, the All Blacks continue to perform as champions. They won the 2016 Rugby Championship after playing only 4 of the 6 games and then went on to win all of games anyhow. They broke the record for the most consecutive test wins in a row, surpassing the previous record of 17 - they carry on to see how many they can get to.
The All Blacks also hold the Bledisloe Cup again. Australia last held the Bledisloe Cup in 2002. The All Blacks convincingly won all 3 Steinlager Series games against the Welsh in June 2016.
The 2015 Rugby World Cup ran from 18 Sept 2015 with the final on 31 October, between the New Zealand All Blacks and the Australian Wallabies. The All Blacks are now worthy champions and Rugby World Cup holders by winning the game 34-17. Back to back winners and the 3rd time they have held the cup (1987, 2011 and 2015)
Everyone hoped that the 2015 World Cup in England would be the same spectactular success that the 2011 one was in New Zealand.
And it was, although the southern hemisphere showed their dominance with 4 teams in semifinals. And England's exit in the pool games meant that English fans were not at all happy and did not go to so many games!
The next RWC is in Japan in 2019. Let's hope that Rugby fever can build enough in Japan in that time for another great World Cup - they have along way to go but their 3 winsthis time have boosted that somewhat!
Meanwhile there is always lots of great Rugby in the Southern Hemisphere including Super Rugby, the Rugby Championship (NZ, Australia, South Africa and now Argentina), the Bledisloe Cup, International tours to and from New Zealand, and more.
Check out the 2015 games schedules and the results for all matches and the All Blacks games in 2014 and before.
